Spay & Neuter

The Mississippi Animal Rescue League requires that all dogs and cats adopted from the shelter be spayed or neutered. Pet overpopulation is a problem nationwide and we wish to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

Millions of cats and dogs are euthanized in shelters all across the country due to unwanted litters of puppies and kittens. The easiest solution is to spay or neuter your pet.

• Spay/neuter helps your pet live a happier, healthier and longer life
• It reduces the urge to roam
• It stops cats from spraying (marking of territory) with foul smelling urine
• It prevents breast cancer in females
• It reduces the risk from enlarged prostate glands and cancer in males
• Spaying a female dog or cat eliminates its heat cycle

In cooperation with the veterinarians of Jackson and surrounding communities, the Mississippi Animal Rescue League has developed a plan to provide reduced cost spay/neuter services to pet owners on low fixed incomes. You may qualify for this program if you receive any of the following:

• Medicaid, Medicare
• Social Security Disability
• Social Security Retirement
• Food Stamps, Aid to Dependent Children
• VA Disability
• Current Unemployment Benefits

Abnormal discharges from nose, eyes or other body openings. Loss of Appetitie, marked weight loss or gains. Excessive water consumption. Most pet owners miss the signs of illness in their pets or attribute them to "old age." Know the signs of disease so you can get help for your pet before it's too late for treatment to be effective.
