A Legacy of Love
Everyone would like to be remembered for the deeds they accomplished while on this earth. Some will have monuments built in their memory, others a hospital wing, or a Foundation named in their honor. Most of us will be remembered in more modest ways.
Those of us fortunate enough to share our homes and lives with animals know the joy and happiness they bring. To help the animals that give us so much and ask so little in return, you can be part of the Legacy of Love.
The Mississippi Animal Rescue League, MARL, has been providing sanctuary, care, and hope for animals since 1969. Each year over 13,000 unwanted, abused, and neglected animals look to MARL for help. We are an “open admission” shelter, and we never turn any animal away.
MARL is more than just shelter for animals. We are the largest full-service humane society in Central Mississippi. We offer our animals a chance for a new life through adoption. We fight pet overpopulation with low cost spay/neuter assistance for low income pet owners. We investigate 350-400 animal cruelty complaints every year. We teach humane education through our Summer Camp and to the public. We speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.
With your help, MARL will continue to further the cause of animal welfare. Donations and Unrestricted Gifts are always needed at MARL. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that receives no governmental support. The Legacy of Love offers other options for you to be remembered for your love and kindness to animals.
The MARL Charitable Trust
This is a tax-exempt endowment fund for MARL. Contributions received by the Trust are retained and invested. The investment income is used to support MARL while the principal remains in trust to continue producing additional income.
Naming MARL as a beneficiary of your will is another way to ensure that MARL can continue saving and helping animals. Your attorney can help you modify your will to recognize MARL.
Life Insurance Policy
MARL may be named as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy. Depending on the policy type, an income tax deduction may or may not be permitted.
Shares of stock may be donated to MARL and are tax-deductible as a charitable contribution.
